Abstract

Accuracy Issues Related to Implementing a GIS Project
Track: Implementing GIS
Author(s): Bishwa Acharya

Accuracy issues are a function of time, technology, economy, and a vision for future applications of the developed product. Most benefits of any accurate product is indirect and hard to quantify; therefore, many GIS projects compromise for less accurate by-products. Most of the time, the accuracy vs. project cost is exaggerated. Moreover, these issues become psychological rather than technological. This paper will discuss how a GIS project can be developed and implemented within a given budget without compromising accuracy.
