Scenic Views in Our Community
This map shows the topography of our community. This can be used to plan a hike or find places where you can take in a scenic view; we call them vantage points. Some of them show changes in elevation, others are relatively flat. Points such as the French King Bridge draw tourists every fall to see the foliage, and you can also see the huge change in elevation caused by weathering and downgrading by the river. In Barton’s Cove you can see the spot where a glacier sat and when it melted, made a huge waterfall. The waterfall is now underwater but if you’re a scuba-diver, you can see it.
